The role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior QA Engineer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in QA process setup, mentoring junior team members, and developing quality assurance strategies within a fast-paced, technical environment. As a Senior QA Engineer, you will be instrumental in shaping the quality culture and processes, ensuring that our software products meet the highest standards of functionality, performance, and user experience. You will mentor and guide team members while working closely with other departments to maintain best-in-class testing practices.

Responsibilities

  • Champion QA best practices throughout the business
  • Conduct regular knowledge-sharing sessions to upskill the IT & Change team and share insights on industry best practices.
  • Design and implement robust QA processes that align with organisational goals, ensuring effective, efficient, and scalable testing methodologies.
  • Define and maintain comprehensive testing strategies, test plans, and test cases for both functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Standardise QA processes, including defect management, test reporting, and test execution to improve efficiency and ensure consistent quality across projects.
  • Lead the creation of test plans, ensuring thorough coverage of product features, user flows, and technical aspects.
  • Oversee the execution of manual and automated tests, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of defects and issues.
  • Work closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive test coverage and alignment with business objectives
  • Collaborate with development, product, and operations teams to understand requirements and ensure quality is embedded throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Drive continuous feedback loops between QA and development teams, ensuring that quality is maintained throughout the product development process.
  • Manage and track defects using a bug tracking system, ensuring that they are resolved in a timely manner and that root cause analysis is performed.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to manage expectations and mitigate any quality-related risks.

Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in QA engineering with a proven track record of leading teams and setting up QA processes in a software development environment.
  • Experience in mentoring, providing guidance, training, and support.
  • Strong understanding of various testing methodologies such as functional, integration, regression, acceptance.
  • Demonstrated experience in setting up and optimising QA processes, including test planning, execution, defect management, and test reporting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify potential issues early and drive their resolution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly report on testing activities, defects, and improvements to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable Skills

  • Hands-on experience with test automation tools like Selenium, Appium, Playwright or other relevant frameworks.
  • ISTQB/ISEB qualified, nice to have but not essential
